Editorial “Solaris: Coming Back” 

 The book “Solaris” by Stanisław Lem and the film adaptation by Andrei Tarkovsky inspired me to create this series of images. My project is a fictional continuation of the story. 

Kris is created by the planet Solaris and sent to Earth to study humanity. There he falls in love with a woman named Harey. However, his bond with Harey grows stronger and he realises that he must leave Earth to save the life of his love. Eventually, Harey decides to follow Kris, even though her body cannot survive on Solaris. But her soul remains forever on Solaris, that fascinating ocean planet. 

With this story, I want to explore not only themes of love, loss and destiny, but also existential questions about the meaning of life and humanity’s role in the universe.
